Write or Die Wednesdays: Make it Rhyme If You Have Time

Welcome to Write or Die Wednesdays: A Writer's Link-Up! We are Vashelle and Mia inviting you to partake in some creative writing with us each week.

If you are new to this link-up and are wondering what Write or Die is all about, check it out here!

Write or Die Wednesdays

Last week's link-up asked us to flex our creative writing muscles a bit and create a short story or poem. There were some really amazing posts - some gave me the heebie-jeebies, some tugged at the heartstrings. Click here to see the posts from last week!

This week's prompt is as follows:

We want to know more about YOU. Come share what your typical day is like. Use any format you wish!

Don't forget, you have a week to link up! If you have not prepared a post for today, feel free to join us tomorrow or in a few days. We'd love to see what you come up with!

P.S. Have you joined the Write or Die Book Club yet? It's a quarterly book club focused on books about writing, creativity, inspiration, and more! We hope you'll join us! Click on the photo below to cast your vote for our first book. We'll begin reading on April 1st.

Happy writing!!!

Did anybody else just say to themselves: "Like sand through the hourglass, so are the days of our lives"? No? *crickets*

I wish I could tell you that my typical day was super exciting. Filled with champagne, shopping sprees, and being personally serenaded by Adam Levine. But alas, I cannot tell a lie.

Here's my uber boring day, relayed as a poem. Because rhyming.

5:00am: Alarm goes ring, ring, ring. "FML!" is what I'm thinking. Again and again I hit the snooze, and so begins my morning blues.

6:00am: I'm all dressed, but I'm still stressed. Into my boys' rooms I silently creep, where they are both still sound asleep. Wake up, it's time to go! "Oh Mommy, I don't want to. No, no, no!"

6:40am: The time has come to begin my commute. I pop in a CD by Eric Church - HOT dang, that man is cute!

7:30am(~ish): I arrive at work, my computer goes on. I give a deep sigh and stifle a yawn.

8:00am: It's time to eat my breakfast, if I remember to bring it. But you can bet your booty that I'll have coffee - I never forget to drink it.

11:00am: It's time for lunch. I like to eat early, I like it a bunch. I check out my blog planner while I eat. I forgot to write a post for tomorrow - holy sheet!

4:00pm: It's finally time to leave for the day. Say it with me now, HIP HIP HOORAY! I get in my car and begin my homeward drive. Mark off another day of work that I survived.

5:00pm: I pick up the boys and we go home to eat. After that, Dom has to do homework - he thinks it's SO neat.

6:30pm: We settle down in the living room and turn on the tv. "I want to watch Octonauts!" says Will, my baby.

8:30pm: The house is quiet and I use my time to write or read without fail. I may even send to my friends some colorful mail.

10:30pm: I talk on the phone with my hubby. He's hard at work, but has time to tell me he loves me. I know I should sleep, but slumber eludes me. So I turn on the tv and watch whatever is on - I'm not choosy.

12:30am: I suppose the time has come for me to say good night. My alarm will go off again soon - that beastly piece of shite.

If you're still awake after reading that post, give the comments section a shout. This concludes my "day in the life" - I'm over and out!

  5. That's cute that you decided to make it rhyme! By the way, you know how you and I are so alike, don't be alarmed, but I have that same green color Nagene water bottle. Hahahahha. I've been thinking of doing a similar post for a long time, but I haven't motivated yet. Gah! One of these days I'll participate... ;)

  11. Oh yes, our texts could take up a whole post by themselves. Maybe we should do that one day. Just take screen shots of our random quotes and lyrics. ;)

  13. Lol, I suffer from extreme insomnia. :) Sometimes I don't go to bed until 3am because I just can't turn my brain off. Le sigh. :) But it makes for some interesting late night thoughts that lead to weird blog post ideas, so I guess it's not all bad. hehe.

  19. I don't know...I think I have you beat in the bore department. We seem to go to bed around the same time. Being a mom and working outside the home is never really boring...there are plenty of things to do in both arena's. Thank you for giving us a look inside your day. The children are beautiful!

  20. So cute! I love it :) Do you have a planner just for your blog? I have an Inkwell planner (it's like EC) but I put EVERYTHING in it. FOUR years and I have yet to find a good way to manage blog planning.

Anywho, love your post!! This was adorable.

  21. We love Octonauts too!
Do you remember BC (before children) when you were like 'oh I am just SOO busy!'. Yeah right! I had a good chuckle. Great job.

  22. Another great post idea, really love your prompts! Your boys are super cute! #WODW

  23. You never cease to amaze me with your creativity and writing. This was so fun to read!!

First, I am so jealous that it only takes you an hour to get ready. I am clearly doing something so wrong, cause I spend about 45 minutes on the whole showering ritual alone. Haha.

Second, I so need to organize my blogging life. I have a planner for everything, and my blogging notes seem to be the ones to get lost in the sauce.

Third, the boys are sooo cute!!! Even though they're clearly not the same age, do people ask you if they're twins? People used to ask me that about the girls all the time!

  24. uh, i love your planner...where did you get it? I want one :) oh i liked your post too :) xoxoxoxoxo

  25. Gah I wish I kept up with my planner like you do, I'm so lazy!

  26. I love A Day In the Life posts. This was fun to read! And it's always fun to see into people's Life Planners! That thing is the greatest invention ever. :)

  27. My day starts at 5:20am. I let Walter out, then he goes back to bed while I shower. Then he gets breakfast and I get ready for work. I get to work by 7-7:10am. Lunch around noonish. Off work at 4pm. My evenings are typically BORING.

  28. Hi, Jessica! Yes, I have an EC planner just for my blog. I used to combine everything into one planner, but I just got too overwhelmed. I use the Simplified Planner for my every day stuff. :) I'm a planner nerd, haha. Thanks for reading!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Lol, yes, I can't believe I used to think I was "busy" or "tired" then, haha. Oh well. :)

    ReplyDelete
  30. Haha, I would take longer to get ready if I could, but then I'd probably just not end up leaving the house and get fired. :)

I used to do the combined planner for everything, but I just got so overwhelmed. I like having it separately now, things are a bit more organized. Plus, it's an excuse for me to buy 2 planners! haha!

Thank you! Yes, people always do a double take and ask how old they are and if they are twins. But they are only 2 years apart, and look very much alike, so I guess I can see how they would assume that. :)

  31. It's an Erin Condren planner. :) Thanks, girl. Hope you had a nice weekend.

  32. Haha, you're not lazy. I go through phases where I ignore my planners, lol.

  33. Thanks, Crystal! Yes, I totally agree. :) My blog life has improved now that I have it all organized in my pretty planner. :)
