Life Lately

Life has been hectic around these parts lately. And I haven't had much energy or motivation to deal with life in general. But I'm working on it, lovelies. I'm working on it.

So, what have I been up to? I'm desperately trying to get back into fitness and clean eating mode. It was a wonderful holiday season filled with blissful eating. But I'm firmly back on the wagon. With my feet planted in cement. Who's with me?

I'm also trying to find some time to work on my novel. There really are not enough hours in the day. But I'm hoping to get some time away at the library every so often so that I can get going. Books don't write themselves, ya know?

I got a tattoo! I was so nervous, but as soon as I saw the finished product on my arm, I knew it was meant to be. It just feels right. This was 2 weeks ago, so it's all healed up now. But here's my masterpiece.

And here is a collage that my friend Jen made for me.

It was an amazing experience!! And having that reminder on my arm helps to keep me grounded when I'm feeling down.

I've been reading non-stop. Gotta make sure I reach my goal of 100 books this year. :) 3 down, 97 to go. I'm sure I've mentioned once or twice that I'm in 4 book clubs. So I'm never at a loss for something to read. Right now, I'm reading The Lake by Banana Yoshimoto for the book club led by Crystal at Dreams, Etc. I also found some really interesting books at Goodwill and the dollar store the other day. Who says reading has to be expensive? :)

I finished watching all the seasons of The Killing on Netflix. I absolutely loved that show. I have to watch it all again asap. I don't know why, but it has stayed with me. I still think about it. It sounds stupid, right? But it really was amazing.

So, there you have it. My update on the goings-on around here. Hopefully I'll have some more exciting stuff to share next time.

What have you guys been up to lately? I want to hear all about it!!!

  3. Great tattoo! I never thought I'd be the type of person to get a tattoo (my biggest "thing" was a belly button piercing in college) but lately I've been seriously considering a small one on my foot.

And I'm totally with you on The Killing (sad it's over!) and clean eating. I'm on day 8 of Whole30 and so far, so good!

  5. I love your tattoo! It's amazing! I agree about The Killing. The first two seasons were my favorite, but I loved the entire series and it's one that I still think about. I have been in such a reading slump this year...although it's not really a slump, it's just been too hectic. When I finally get a moment to read I'm pretty tired. I'm planning to start The Lake this weekend, though! I'm excited to read it. :)

  6. Whoo hoo! Congrats on your tattoo! I think it's lovely and I love seeing the joyful look on your face in the photo collage. <3 My next one is going to be a quote too. I am going to have "We loved with a love that was more than love" from Annabel Lee by Edgar Allan Poe. I'm putting it on my left rib cage. Crazy.

and The Killing was a great show! I'm glad Netflix picked it up for its final season.
