A Tour Through Blogland: My Writing Process

Hi everybody! Last week, my lovely friend Sheryl from How to Make a Life tagged me to continue the tour through blogland. If you're new here, welcome! Come on in, I don't bite. You can read a little more about me here. And if you're a regular reader, welcome back, it's so lovely to see you again. I hope you will stick around and learn a little more about my writing process and what I'm working on right now.

OK, so let's get started!

What are you working on now?

I'm working on a few things right now. First and foremost, my favorite project right now is the Write or Die Wednesdays writer's link up with my buddy Vashelle from Shelly's Cabaret. We try very hard to come up with unique writing prompts with some substance to them so that we can all get those creative juices flowing {P.S. Our next prompt has been posted!}. We are constantly on the lookout for inspiration with our weekly prompts and Wednesday has definitely become my favorite day of the week! Check us out and I hope you join, if you're so inclined.

I'm also working on some creative projects for 2015 to share with you all here on the bloggy blog. I'm thinking very hard about what 2015 will mean for me and my family and my dreams. There's something about the promise of a new year. It's a blank slate and you're able to start fresh with new eyes and hopefully accomplish a lot! Hope you guys will stick around and share that journey with me. And I'm always looking for creative collaborators, so if you're interested, leave a comment below with your email and I will definitely get back to you.

And last, but never, ever least, I am finally working on an outline for my novel. EEEKKK! My mind always runs in a million different directions, so finally putting pen to paper and making a plan has been extremely helpful. If you're a regular reader, you know that writing a novel has always been something that I said I would do someday. But I'm glad that I finally decided to put that plan into motion. I know it will be a long journey, but I'm so, so excited to take on this dream. Squeee.

How does your work differ from others in the genre?

My blog is definitely a mix of different topics. But I mean, the word "Chaos" is in the title, so it's kind of fitting, right? I blog about books, about writing, about life, about my hopes and dreams, about my family, about clean eating, etc.

I think that there are a lot of lifestyle blogs out there, but even though we may blog about the same types of things, I feel that we are all unique in our own way. We all bring our life experiences and perspectives and our sense of humor to our little space on the interwebz. So for me, it's about finding people out there who are passionate about some of the same things I am, or people who get my weird sense of humor.

Why do you write/create what you do?

I write because the words are in my soul and I have a story to tell. And I will keep on telling it until my story ends. And I'm actually visiting over at Ashley's blog, Chaos and Words today, talking about this exact thing - Why I Write. I hope you'll visit us there today and leave me some love! :)

How does your writing/creative process work?

Haha, my "process" is probably the opposite of a process. First, I am always on the lookout for inspiration for posts. Whether it's the song I'm listening to on the radio, or a quote I saw in a book, or a picture, etc., I try to jot down those ideas or email things to myself, or if I'm driving I'll record a note to myself, etc.

And then the actual writing of posts takes place mostly in the evenings after my kids are in bed, or on the weekends when I have a little bit of free time. Sometimes I will just open up the browser and start typing, or other times, I will write out what I want to say by hand first. It really just depends. And I kind of like it that way - keeps things fresh and spontaneous and organic.

So this concludes my tour. I hope you have enjoyed it. :) I am tagging a few people below to continue the tour, but please feel free to join and answer these questions as well on your blog or in the comments. Or if you have a post about your writing process, post it in the comments as well, I'd love to read it!
