Express Yourself: My Tattoo Inspiration

I really need a tattoo, you guys. I mean, I NEED a tattoo. I don't know if it's part of this one-third-life crisis I'm going through, or whatever, but I've found myself needing to check this item off of my bucket list asap.

Now, I've heard all of the tips already from people I know that already have tattoos. Make sure you go to a reputable place. Make sure you check out the portfolios of the tattoo artists. Make sure you choose something that really represents you, not some trendy thing that you will regret later, etc. I get it.

For me, I think I'm more interested in the feeling I will have after walking around with this piece of art and inspiration on my body. A tangible reminder that I can see and touch every day. It just speaks to me, I suppose.

These are some of the tattoos that I have been ogling for months now.

  1. I don't have the pain tolerance for a tattoo but my best friend got 3 birds on her ribs (kind of similar to the ones at the top) and they look awesome!

  3. I completely understand how you feel! Back in April I got my second tattoo. My first one, a ladybug, was a drunken night out with a girlfriend. My second one was a totally different experience. It says, "To Thine Own Self Be True." It was truly important for me to get this. I tend to be the kind of person that cares too much what other people think and worry too much about making other people happy. I was done with that! That is what this tattoo meant for me. A reminder to be true to myself. I have it on the lower left side of my back, so I can cover it up. It's super feminine with calligraphy script and stars. Good luck! :) xoxo

  6. Been thinking of a tattoo again. My first was after I finished yoga teacher training and got a lotus with a sutra number on my ankle. It's there for me to see whenever I fold forward and need to let go. Recently, I've been looking at feathers and love the pastel and white tattoos. Still thinking.

  9. I've always been open to tattoos but only the right one, the one that has a lot of meaning for me. I love your choice of ravens , the second one down.

  10. Of my own 8 or so, I only REALLY love probably 3 of them. The first 5 I got totally on a whim because I was 18 and could. The last 3 were thought out for years and were something that actually held meaning, not just a pretty thing just because. So that's my advice - Make a list of what you want to get, then sit and think on it for many months, and it will become clear if that's what you're meant to have on you. I also experimented with drawing something on myself in pen just to play with the placement, and that helped a lot too.
