It's Been a Long Time...

Didja miss me? I've missed you like a skinny kid loves salad. My laptop battery won't hold a charge anymore and I have no funds to replace it... So blogging has taken a bit of a backseat. I'm officially blogging on my iPad right now, so if stuff looks wonky, I apologize.

Anyway, fill me in, what's been up with you guys? I've had a bit of a bout of seasonal depression, I think. Will's 3rd birthday was at the beginning of this month and I couldn't manage to do more than buy him a cookie cake to celebrate. Mom of the year award right here. But luckily he thought it was the greatest thing since sliced bread and asks for cookie cake every day. So a partial win, I guess.

Then, we decided, out of financial necessity of course, that we wouldn't buy presents for anyone but the kids. We just cannot afford it. And on the one hand, it has eliminated a lot of stress and I haven't had to face any of the crazed shopping hordes. But on the other hand, I miss it because I love buying presents for people! Le sigh.

And I had a weeklong visit from the stomach bug fairy. No sugar plums here, just visions of barf dancing in my head. I'm feeling much, much better though!

But we did get our Christmas tree up. It has lights, but no ornaments. What? #ghettofabulouschristmas

Anyway, just wanted to check in and let y'all know I'm still around. Xo

  1. I've missed you! Have you looked on eBay for a cheap battery? :( Our family decided to only do this kids this year as well (mainly because my step-mom lost her job). So, it's been a fairly cheap Christmas for me as well....Thankfully because I am broke!

  2. I'm so glad that you are feeling better hugs and Merry Christmas!!!

  3. 1. Glad you're back.
    2. I'm glad you're only buying gifts for the kids - I was watching The Grinch (Jim Carey version) and his rant about everything winding up in the trash really made me think... I think you're on to something!
    3. Trees with just lights are so simple and elegant - you're a trendsetter, boo!
    4. I pray your Christmas is full of love and hugs and smiles and family and squeals and food and warmth. THAT'S what {commercial} Christmas is all about :)

  4. I'm glad you're back!! Don't worry about the birthday, we've all had those moments. He was thrilled, so mission accomplished!! I'm so sorry you were sick, but glad you're feeling better. The tree thing made me laugh, for our first few years we only had hand-me-down christmas stuff, so we had an ancient fake tree, a blue light net, like you lay on bushes, one string of white lights, and a handful of ornaments. AND no room. So we squeezed the tree with half it's branches on in the corner and draped that blue net around it. It was totally "ghetto" and we didn't care :) MERRY CHRISTMAS FRIEND!!! Hope you have a great one :)

  5. Life is a lot like weather ... it moves in lulls and peaks. Good and bad.

Better weather is on the way!
