Bossypants

I am so totally a bossypants.  At least when I'm at home.  But that's because I have 3 children (one big one that I married, and 2 little ones that I gave birth to) who tend to be scatterbrained and need my help with EVERYTHING.

So imagine my delight in seeing a book titled "Bossypants" by none other than Tina Fey! She makes nerdy look sexy and never met a sarcastic, biting, witty remark that she didn't like. AKA, my kinda gal. Combine ALL of that awesomeness and add me fangirling about anything related to SNL and you have found the book utopia.  OK, maybe I exaggerated slightly. But... it is a seriously funny book and you totally have to read it.

Here's the synopsis from Goodreads:
Before Liz Lemon, before "Weekend Update," before "Sarah Palin," Tina Fey was just a young girl with a dream: a recurring stress dream that she was being chased through a local airport by her middle-school gym teacher. She also had a dream that one day she would be a comedian on TV.

She has seen both these dreams come true.

At last, Tina Fey's story can be told. From her youthful days as a vicious nerd to her tour of duty on Saturday Night Live; from her passionately halfhearted pursuit of physical beauty to her life as a mother eating things off the floor; from her one-sided college romance to her nearly fatal honeymoon—from the beginning of this paragraph to this final sentence.

Tina Fey reveals all, and proves what we've all suspected: you're no one until someone calls you bossy.

(Includes Special, Never-Before-Solicited Opinions on Breastfeeding, Princesses, Photoshop, the Electoral Process, and Italian Rum Cake!)
I don't read a lot of autobiographies or memoirs... simply because most people these days write their autobiographies when they're like 25 now. Like dude.. you haven't even really LIVED yet. And I get turned off by that.  But really good, really funny, or really touching/inspiring autobiographies are rare and I love those when I can find them. :)
So what are you waiting for? Go read it.  See? I'm a bossypants.

  3. You should try "Moranthology" by Caitlin Moran if you liked this book! It's by a woman whom people have dubbed the British Tina Fey!

  13. I've read several of the excerpts in the New Yorker from this book and they were hilarious. And sometimes also insightful. I thought in reading the excerpts that she seems like the kind of person you can imagine going out for coffee with.
