It's Been a Long Time...

Goodness gracious... it's JUNE!  What the heck?! This year is halfway over.

And what have I done with myself, you ask?  Oy vey.  Well, since the last time I updated you on my goals for 2013 (*cough*it was March*cough*), I don't feel like I've accomplished a lot. And it's just so frustrating.
Let's revisit some of these goals, shall we?

YAYYYY! One goal that I'm actually making great progress with.  Well, I'm totally smashing it, to be honest and pretty proud of myself. My goal was to read 30 books for the whole year, and I've already read 34 books and we still have 6 months to go.  Nerdiness for the win. Right now, I'm reading "Thaw" by Satya Robyn.  It's about a 32 year old woman who is suffering through depression and has decided to write in her journal for 3 months to decide whether or not she wants to continue living.  I know it sounds super morbid, but it's actually been really good so far.  The way she describes her relationships and fears and sadness... I think the author is amazing at evoking emotions in the reader! And the best part of course is that I got the Kindle version free on Amazon. Score! :)

FAIL. With a capital F.  I haven't touched my journal since like Jan or Feb. I really need to write.  I have lots of things to write about.  But just the thought of something else that I *have* to do in the evenings just makes me exhausted.  So I keep pushing it to the backburner. I've gotta channel Stella and get my groove back.

I've made some teeny, tiny progress on this goal.  With the weather being so nice and sunny lately here, and the boys and I have been outside quite a bit.  It always makes me smile to see the pure joy on the boys' faces when they run around the yard, squealing with content. I got some plastic shovels at the dollar section at Target for the boys and they like to dig in the dirt and scoop up rocks. They have a blast.

I have to admit that this one has been a little hard for us.  Charlie's been working some crazy hours and I don't really get to see him much.  He's usually home when I'm at work and when I'm home, he's at work. It makes me sad, because he's my best friend and I miss just having him here. We do always try to make sure we text and call and just check in with each other.  But I miss my bear. :( I really don't know how milspouses or single moms do it. Hopefully we can try and plan some time together, even if it's just a dinner or a movie or something soon.

I actually did this! I've been working at my job (well, 2 jobs total actually, but the same organization) for almost 4 years now.  And I've always complained about the traffic and the massive number of accidents lately and how it would be so much more relaxing to ride the commuter train.  Well, this past week, I tried it! And it was awesome.  What would normally be a 45 minute drive on a good day (or 1.5 hour drive on a bad day), takes 25 minutes via the train plus an extra 5 minutes on the shuttle to my building. LOVE! I can't do it every day because of hubs' schedule, but I could definitely do it a few times a week. It's really nice to just kick back and read or watch the scenery and have no traffic-related stress in the mornings. :)

OK, so maybe I shouldn't give myself an F.  I did OK.  Maybe like a D+ or C-.  Mama's tryin, people.

Have you made any progress on your goals for 2013?  Are you killin it this year? Well, give me some tips on how to stay on track! Or are you falling behind, like me? Well, we can commiserate together! Leave me a comment either way, I'd be interested to see how everybody's doing this year at the half-way point! xo

  3. 34 books?! I'm jealous! I've read 1 this year... it was over 800 pages so maybe I count that as 2-3 books? Ha ha! I miss reading! But life was just too crazy adjusting to having a baby! But now that we've got life figured out I want to get back into reading!!
I could never keep a journal. Hence the reason I blog ;)

  4. I was ridiculous and made a 25 by 25 list. I am pretty sure that the majority of those are probably not going to get done.
