Fit and Healthy... or not so much

Well, good morning, lovely people!


I was absolutely exhausted yesterday, so of course I'm a day late (and many dollars short) for Fit and Healthy Friday, but I wanted to share some goals I had for the month and my progress (or lack thereof!). 

1) Drink more water. 
I've had this goal for awhile actually.  I'm perpetually dehydrated.  I can't tell you how many times I've been yelled at by doctors (even hospitalized while I was pregnant!) because I wasn't drinking enough water.  I seriously hate water.  But I know that I need it and I need to be better about drinking it.  I've been horrible about drinking water this past month.  But I'm going to resolve to do better.  Whatever I drink for the day, I want 80% of my beverage to be water.  I don't think I could ever give up my morning coffee or my Coke with lunch.  But other than that, I should be able to drink water.  Right?? 

2) Make dinner at least 5 nights a week. 
Yea... no.  With hubs working a gazillion hours the past few weeks, I've been so tired and stopping to get drive-thru or ordering takeout has pretty much been the name of the game.  That plus not having time to go grocery shopping means not really having much in the house to make. Le sigh. I *WILL* do better next month. I will. 

3)  Set aside time every evening to prep lunches and snacks for work. 
I have been HORRIBLE at doing this.  Every night after the kids go to bed, all I want to do is sleep.  Or read.  The thought of going to the kitchen and trying to figure out what to make for lunch the next day has seemed too overwhelming.  I don't know what's wrong with me lately.  I'm just so tired all the time. :( 

Well, there you have it.  My grade for the past month - a big, fat F!  But April is a new month.  I'm going to do better.  I'm going to do meal planning again so that we always have a plan for dinner.  I'm going drink enough water that I turn into a fish. Haha. 

How did you guys do with your food/fitness goals this month?  Hopefully better than I did!!!!

  2. It's hard at first! It takes a few weeks for me to finally get the routine down. I'm much better at exercising than keeping up with my diet! Just keep telling yourself a year from now you'll be glad you did this!

  3. I can't relate to the water thing because I actually love water, but I do go though periods of forgetting to drink it. Maybe try starting your day with a glass of water so you're at least off to a good start? Being tired and having to worry about dinner and making lunches, etc. sucks, I can't imagine doing it as a mom! Do you ever use a crockpot to make meals? Hang in there Mia! xo

  4. I didn't set any goals, but this month I need to! April is a new month! I have a 16 oz Starbucks tumbler that I constantly refill throughout the day. Drinking it through a straw helps me suck it down, but I like water so I'm one of those people.

  6. It was so hard for me to drink more water so I started using a plastic straw cup and filling it with lemons and water. :) Worked like a charm.

  7. Yes....put an orange slice or a couple pieces of frozen fruit in your water...its a whole new ball game. I too have a hard time getting in enough water during the day. AND....I JUST gave up my diet coke...cause I was getting heartburn from was a sad sad day!

    I wish you luck in April!!! Go get those goals!!!! :)

  8. It's been a hard month for all of us!! The point is to keep pushing forward :)
    As far as the dinners and lunches, I have the BEST luck with the meal planning for both. That way you buy everything you need before you need it, and you can prep meals at your leisure :)

  10. Now that winter is over, it will be easier to hit your goals! That's always my theory and experience, at least. You can do it!

  11. I don´t like cold water, it gives me headache for some reason, but I figured if I have room tempered water or even hotish water, and I had it in a bottle I was more likely to drink more water! It really worked! :)

  13. I'm really bad at drinking water too. Hubs had to remind me CONSTANTLY to drink water with my first pregnancy. I'm still not good at it while being pregnant again. :/

    Dehydration is such a serious thing too. And most people lose weight when they drink water, too. You'd think that would motivate me. ;)
