Bloggy New Year

Hi Friends!  Whatcha doin?  Me, I'm setting some new goals for the blog for 2013.  I set some life goals the other day, but since blogging is such a big part of my life these days, I figured it was only fitting to set some blog goals as well.

Things are going to change a bit around here...

Come follow me on Instagram!

OK, so before you go rolling your eyes, just hear me out.

1.)  No blogging on Saturdays.  This is a no-brainer. Saturday is family day.  No ifs, ands, or buts about it.  I don't want to even think about the computer when I'm with the fam.  Hubs is rarely home to spend time with us, so when he is, I want to capitalize on every moment.

2.)  No more paid sponsorships.  I have absolutely no disrespect for bloggers who do paid sponsorships.  Obviously, since I've been one of you for the past 4 or 5 months!  But honestly, it's just not for me.  I don't want to feel guilty if I don't post enough or don't promote enough.  My blog is my space, so I feel like I should do what's right for me.  Now, with that being said, I am 100% committed to anybody who is currently a sponsor or in the queue.  You guys will get my utmost attention, because I made a commitment to you and I will absolutely honor it.  But after the queue is cleared out, it's FREE swaps only from here on out! :)

3.)  Only 3 gift swaps per year.  Oh man... swaps... they are SO addicting. I love coming home to find packages in the mail.  And I love shopping for other people.  But it's just so expensive and I really need to cut out the spending.  But since I know I won't be able to cut them out completely (hey, it's the little things, OK? haha), I'm just going to limit myself to participating in 3.  Yikes, they better be really good! :)

4.)  REAL, genuine content.  Less fluff, more ME. This might make some of you uncomfortable, since most of the time sometimes my thoughts aren't always about rainbows and unicorns. And it may get embarrassing or depressing sometimes here... but hey, if you can't count on me to be real, then what's the point, right?! And I don't want you to think it's always going to be dark and stormy - I also want to be inspirational and motivational and sappy and funny - all those great things us humans can be when we're not pretending to be perfect all the time.

Speaking of real, genuine content, have you heard about the Vlog My Day project?  It's a look into a day in your life.  What better way to get to know some of your fellow bloggers?  I really hope you guys will participate! :)

  1. Great goals! I too need to work on some of these things. I also want to set a time limit each night to how much time I spend on the computer. My husband makes comments all the time about how much I'm on it. I feel really bad and want to do better.

  2. I've never paid for ads (never had that in the budget) but I did do swaps and it was just stressful trying to decide who to put up and if I would or wouldn't promote and yadda yadda. So, it went bye bye!

  3. Nice goals! I've cut way back on posting since Gabe was born. It just can't be done when you got a fam!

  11. LOVE these goals. I'm not a big paid sponsor person and tend not to read the posts they have. There have been a few bloggers wiping the paid sponsors out and it's nice to see more real content rather than paid content. When I read blogs I want to read about the person I'm following. :)

  12. Love these goals! I'm definitely wanting to be more genuine on my blog, that's something I've been struggling with. And I'll have to check out the vlog my day!

  13. There are so many things about your goals that I LOVE!! The swaps have done me in as well! I had three in December and almost completely forgot about one. I am focusing on being a better blogger, for me, that is why I started this in the first place. Love these goals!~

  15. I loooove theeeese. You are so awesome. :) Oh, and even before I read this, I was going to email you about something! [Reminder to self: swapping...I'll tell you when you email me back, haha.] Also, are you putting in your "blessings" for this year in your jar?! I still need to find something to put mine in because at the moment they are in my tervis, hahaha. [Mine is more of a "thankful" jar from something that happened that day or whatever, but I'm so excited about it! Anyway, lovieeees!

  16. Love your goals, and I'm right there with you on the sponsorship. I would eventually like to go back to paid sponsorships, but at this point it's just not what I need or want for my blog right now.

  17. I love these goals! I think we can all let blogging consume our lives if we don't try and balance things out.
